Tips From JJ: (Jan 16) What Are You Choosing?

What would you like to change this year? To put it another way, what are your happiness challenges?

This is traditionally a reflective time of the year when you notice what’s going well and what's challenging. As January gets into full swing without the festive activities, you notice the unstable weather and become more aware of your current challenges at home and work. It’s a time when you may feel you need some things to change. Now is the time to choose to change them.

As you think back over the last few years you realize the progress you’ve made. You feel proud of your accomplishments but you’re not where you want to be.

To get you there, you may want to read an article from my Newsletter Archives, Tips From JJ (Jan 2003) "Making Your Goals Reality.”

http://www.jjlauderbaugh.com/News/archive.html

It describes a process I've used every January for the last twenty two years. I wouldn’t think of starting a year without it.

If you’re looking for a different set of guidelines to get you started, email me for an excellent article called, "Set Annual Goals to Achieve Results" written by the National Speakers Association president, Ruby Newell-Legner, CSP.

Making your new goals happen depends on whether you believe you can accomplish them. Your belief is simply thinking the same thoughts over and over, so if you choose to believe you can make them happen, change your thoughts about them! Then start visualizing the results! Your mind is powerful!

When you hear yourself say, I need to change something, immediately stop and reword it to, I choose to change something, and you'll feel the difference.

My daughter and I were discussing this word choice subject yesterday and today she brought a small decorative sign to me as a gift. It read, “TODAY I Choose Happiness.”

It’s up to you to set you goals, change your thoughts and choose your happiness.
