Tips From JJ (Nov '16) Happy Thanks-Giving Plus

How happy are you this Thanksgiving season? Who do you want to thank? Start by thanking your co-workers, family and friends for how they make your life better!

SOLUTIONS

I'm happy and I want to thank you for reading my monthly newsletters since 2002 when I started writing them. Most of you have been in my audiences when I spoke on customer service management at conferences or at your company.

Thanks for the comments you’ve sent me! Thanks for asking me to help your team, department and company!

Helping people help themselves and increasing their quality of life has been my goal! Everything I speak about can be used personally as well as professionally. Hopefully you've been applying the tips to both your home and work lives.

Please...let me know what subjects you’d like for future newsletters!

Here’s a tip to make this Thanksgiving the best ever for you and your family. The Thanks-Giving Plus:

Laughter Calms the Brain

If some relatives cause you to be tense, look for things to laugh about or entertain you. Videos, old family pictures, games, use anything that generates joyous laughter.

On Thanksgiving we ask everyone to say what they're thankful for at our long table. Most comments are pretty serious and well thought out ones. One year my youngest grandson said very seriously, "I'm thankful for the Crescents!” With that, everyone went into joyous laughter! And the rest of the kids at the table agreed with him. That’s when I realized how important Pillsbury Crescents are to my holiday dinners!

My husband Scott has a Wizard in a glass encasement that speaks answers to questions when a hand is waved over the top of it. Every holiday at our house the kids head to the Wizard to ask it questions. We all laugh at the answers it gives. Everyone stands in line for their turn to laugh at their answers.

Showing pictures of the family from previous holidays can bring on lots of laughter too. Scott puts them on our big TV screen and as the pictures of the kids rotate it always causes joyous laughter, especially by the kids when they see themselves at younger ages!

Studies by researchers at Loma Linda University’s School of Medicine have shown that laughing can be as relaxing as yoga and meditation. It provides the brain with a type of mental clarity and an ability to focus, to be relaxingly happy.

May you have a Happy & Laughing Thanksgiving!
