Tips From JJ (Dec '16) Remembering Holiday Spirit
Are you remembering the right things this holiday season? Don’t let your current challenges dampen the holidays.
Whether you are at work or home, it's a time of remembering and spreading the spirit of the holidays to others.
This has been an unusual year unlike any you probably have experienced in the past. The holiday season is a reflective time! You may find yourself looking back over the year (work and personal) with a mixture of smiles and frowns and wondering how you arrived here again so quickly.
You have choices. You can remember what didn’t work this year or you can remember what did work well and be thankful for those things. The more thankful you are for what you do have, the more you'll be blessed with more of these important treasures.
Do you have your health, family, friends, home, work, food to eat, eyes to see? You live in the United States and that alone should make you feel more thankful.
The Law of Attraction tells you to dwell on what you want and be thankful in advance of your getting it. Be thankful for what you already have to attract more to you.
Your mind is powerful! What you dwell on is what you’ll get! Watch for thoughts that give you a feeling of well being!
Look back to what you have attracted into your life in past holiday seasons. What do you remember from a past Christmas that makes you smile today? What delighted you as a child?
I'll never forget hearing Santa talking to my mother at our front door one Christmas eve when I was 4 years old. He knocked on the door since we didn’t have a chimney to come down. My mother told Santa he would have to come back later because my sister and brother and I were not asleep yet. Hearing this, I yelled out from the bedroom, “We’re asleep, don’t go!” As I heard Santa’s “Ho, Ho, Ho,” and the jingle bells outside as he left, I closed my eyes so hard my face hurt. I whispered to my sister, “Let’s hurry and go to sleep so Santa will come back!” There was no doubt in my mind that he had been standing there in his red and white suit right there at my house.
Another Christmas after I had two little daughters of my own, I was very ill with the flu. After dragging myself out of bed Christmas morning to open presents, I returned to bed for the rest of the day and night. The next day I felt more like my old self again and wanted to have Christmas, but I had missed it. You see, Christmas is a spirit, a feeling of loved ones around, giving gifts, attending Christmas eve services, cooking and eating...enjoying the best of what we have attracted that year. I discovered that year that Christmas is a spirit!
We always attract some good things, and the way to attract more of them is to be thankful for what we have now. Every Christmas since, I have been so thankful for my health and feeling of well being. The spirit of Christmas is all around us and miracles do happen. Expect them, and be thankful for what you attract.
Go out of your way to make more great memories for your co-workers and those you see in public too! Give the gift of kindness by helping others! It may be just smiling and waving or opening a door for them or wishing them Happy Holidays! Make a difference with your presence! You never know how much others need your kindness today! Help them feel the spirit of Christmas and rise above the challenges that may be weighing them down this season. A feeling of well being will sweep over both of you.
Be kind to your customers and loving to your friends and family. Isn’t that what you want too? Be it and you’ll attract more of it.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and your work and personal families!
