Use the following tips as training tools.

Present this situation to your group and brainstorm solutions together, or submit your own situation question to be answered in an upcoming newsletter.

SITUATION QUESTION:

Think back to the thoughts you've had in the last twenty four hours, and notice how they've made you feel. Did they make you happy and fun-loving? If they didn’t, why not? What thoughts pulled you down or got in the way?

SOLUTIONS:

If you can’t remember what you thought, think of how you felt and what the main theme on your mind was. It could have been something about work that was making you concerned or an illness that has you feeling low energy. Both could be triggering thoughts and fears of the unknown. This is negative goal-setting.

Everyone experiences thoughts like these but it's important to nip them in the bud. They're programming you for more of the same. The more you dwell on something, good or bad, the more you attract it. This is called the Law of Attraction!

Simply being aware of your thoughts and refusing to dwell on the negativity in your work or life can turn you in a different direction. Watch how you’re feeling and then notice what you’ve been thinking! Immediately change your thoughts to positive areas of your work or life and you’ll see that your feelings change too.

Try this for a day to feel the difference. Then try for a week and you'll be amazed at what you're attracting. If you dwell on what you want instead of what you don’t want, you’ll attract a better quality of life for yourself in all areas!

A headline on the sports page of our local newspaper grabbed my attention. It said, BIG PAYOFF TO ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT. It told about a player who was unhappy with his management team in his early years and how his negative and counter-productive thoughts of entitlement had undermined his career. When he finally realized he was attracting more of the same, he started dwelling on what he wanted instead of what he didn’t want.

The sports writer Andrew Baggarly called that an attitude adjustment. He wrote, "When the club purchased his contract last July, teammates and coaches noticed an immediate difference in his demeanor. There was a lightness about him. He replaced entitlement with enthusiasm. He wasn’t indignant over what he lacked but grateful for what he had — including a full uniform once more."

Baggarly was writing about Giants player Travis Ishikawa. Baggarly said, “His home run in Game 5 of the NLCS clinched a pennant, challenged the sound barrier at China Basin and forever gilded his name in Giants lore."

This is a great example of how powerful your mind is! You attract what you’re thinking about so monitor your thoughts to get what you want at work and life. It’s the Law of Attraction working for you!
