SITUATION QUESTION:

When everything seems to be going wrong around you and in the world, what do you do? How do you bring back your feel good, all-is-well feeling?

SOLUTIONS:

My husband and I spent twelve days on a fun road trip through California and Arizona this month, and during that time devastating fires broke out at both ends of California, and people were shot in a senseless rampage in another country dance place!

Luckily, we live more in the middle of California between the fires, and we weren’t country dancing there that night, but some of our dance friends had been earlier in the evening.

All this has hit pretty close to home for us. We smell and see the smoke in San Jose from the ongoing fires, and we know people who have lost their homes and family members. The newspapers and the news are full of these tragedies.

We all need to know what is going on around us but there is a point that we need to get back to feeling that all is well again. How do we do that?

Now is the most important time to do what we can to help! Prayers, donations and physical and mental help are needed for the survivors.

Then be thankful for what is going right for us. We have jobs, homes, cars, families and most of all, our lives and health to keep living in this great country we call home! We need to look around and count our blessings! Thanksgiving is needed this year more than ever!

Dwell on being thankful and compassionate at the same time. Turn off the news and don’t read every detail about how bad things are. Look for ways to bring your spirits up and truly be thankful. Watch a feel-good movie, spend time with those you love and hold them close. Look for reasons to smile and be happy in your skin.

From California, we wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving!
