SITUATION QUESTION:

Now that you’ve been sheltering in place, working from home and perhaps homeschooling for the last five months, what habits have you developed? Which ones are working for you? Which ones aren’t?

SOLUTIONS:

Everyone has had to develop new ways of living since this pandemic altered our lives. I have seen more people out riding bikes or walking with their families. Instead of dancing two to three times a week I’ve walked every single day instead of only on the days I wasn’t dancing. People are talking about their new habits of more cooking, eating and gaining weight. Others have used this time to exercise and lose weight.

When I’m walking I listen to audio books to improve my life. My recent pick that can be helpful to everyone now is, Tiny Habits, The Small Changes That Change Everything, by B J Fogg, PhD.

He’s a behavioral scientist who makes it easy for you to see what habits you want to break and others you want to add. He designed the Fogg Behavior Model that works by making tiny changes that are easy and fun to do.

Fogg breaks the myth that….Change is hard! He creates a new reality that….Change can be easy if you know the simple steps of Behavior Design!

Think of a behavior you want to add and then tack it on to another habit you already do. This tiny change can make a huge difference in your day and life.

He says there are only three variables that drive the changes that can change your life. Behavior happens when Motivation & Ability & Prompt converge at the same moment! The examples in the book make you think about changes you could make too.

Tiny Habits is a way of pivoting to more happiness. Making tiny changes now could make a difference in the quality of your life too.
